A few days before the end of the year, the penultimate TOP WAVES of the year is a foretaste of the festivities to come...

But first, let's take a look at what the official French ranking has in store for us (source Snep).
It is one of the leaders of the French rap scene Orelsan who dominates this ranking with "Civilisation". He precedes the last Adele "30" and Maes with "Réelles Vies 3.0".
A little further in the ranking and contrary to what the title of his last album may suggest, Kyo registers his return in this ranking in 16th position with "La part des lions". The new Sting "The Bridge" is placed 23rd in front of "Mercury - Act 1" by Imagine Dragons.
Another important entry, "Turning to Crime", the new album of Deep Purple which arrives directly at the 62nd position.
At 96th place, we find "Raise of Roof", the new event album with Robert Plant and Alison Krauss.
"Senjutsu" by Iron Maiden is 106th for its eleventh week in the top.
Radiohead is also present with "Kid in Mnesia" at 161st position as well as Black Label Society and "Doom Crew Inc. 169e.
The winner of the last Eurovision Maneskin continues to make resistance in 188th position for a 26th week of presence in the ranking.

TOP WAVES - GENERAL

For this penultimate ranking, it's "Hushed & Grim" by Mastodon that gets the votes.

Like "Crack the Skye", "The Hunter" or "Emperor of Sand" in the past, the music of the band feeds on tragedies as poetry feeds on spleen, to approach each time a little bit more the excellence, until reaching it totally with this exceptional "Hushed & Grim". (Newf)

MASTODON Hushed & Grim

In second place of this TOP WAVES, we find the "fifth solo album of Mark Tremonti, three years after the solid "A Dying Machine".

"Tremonti's surgical efficiency finds its finest achievement once again in "Marching In Time", which is designed to overwhelm the listener with a barrage of adamantine riffs and irresistible melodies. (Nuno777)

TREMONTI Marching In Time

PREMIATA FORNERIA MARCONI I Dreamed Of Electric Sheep

The second album that shares this third place is "Dark Connection" of Beast In Black who had marked the spirits with "From Hell with Love", album "anchored in a heavy tinged with pop and dance with a strong synthetic side".

With this new album, Anton Kabanen and his band "don't intend to deviate from their road"... better they "push the nail in and propose a heavy music always as typical dance and pop with a big place made to the synthesizers" (Noise)

BEAST IN BLACK Dark Connection

The last album to be on the third place of the podium is "Colors II" of Between the Buried and Me which in 21 years of career became a figurehead of the extreme progressive metal.

"With "Colors II", Between The Buried And Me pays more than a tribute to its elder "Colors" and definitively establishes its status as a major band of the extreme prog scene with a new exciting album to its credit." (Darialys)

TOP WAVES - ROCK

The first place goes to Joe Bonamassa's annual delivery, "Time Clocks".

"The artist doesn't hesitate to stray from the beaten path by making himself more rock than blues [...] without losing coherence".
"Tormented and monumental, "Time Clocks" highlights a Joe Bonamassa who does not hesitate to move away from his comfort zone to share doubts and emotions as deep as they are dazzling." (Loloceltic)

JOE BONAMASSA Time Clocks

In second place, we find the thirty-year-old Katatonia who "reserved a small surprise to their fans through a compilation of rare and unreleased tracks. "

"This double album "retraces the evolution of the band through these three musical decades" whether it is "the "Night is the New Day" period with its heavy sounds" [...] the "Discouraged Ones" era with its melancholic gothic tones" or "the electro-atmospheric sounds in which the band has been officiating for several albums". (Darialys)

KATATONIA Mnemosynean

And it is finally "Street Lethal" of Crazy Lixx which completes this podium.

For this seventh album in twenty years of career, the quintet "remains faithful to its roots and its passions" and thus continues to assert its hair metal" which if it "does not invent the powder knows obviously how to make it speak with "titles which groove with federative refrains". (Lynott)
