Formed in 2001, Kontrust are a slightly wacky band known for wearing Tyrolean shorts and mixing every possible genre in their songs.
Their debut album, "We!come Home", released in 2005, won them the Austrian Newcomer Award the following year. "Time To Tango" in 2009 earned them a place in the Dutch charts.
In 2010, Kontrust won the Amadeus Austrian Music Award in the Hard & Heavy category. Two years later, they released their third studio album, "Second Hand Wonderland", which entered the Austrian charts on May 11 and reached number 25, followed by "Explositive" in 2014.
The band remained silent for almost 9 years before announcing a change in line-up with the arrival of Julia Ivanova on vocals accompanied by Joey Sebald on drums and a new album "Madworld" in 2023, which entered the Austrian charts at #4 on its release.
