Code Orange, from Pittsburgh, was formed in 2008 by Jami Morgan (drums and vocals), Reba Meyers (guitar and vocals), Eric Balderose (guitar) and Joe Goldman (bass). As teenagers with a passion for hardcore music, they started playing local gigs and quickly attracted attention for their on-stage energy and committed lyrics.
Over time, Code Orange developed a distinctive sound that blends traditional elements of hardcore with metal, noise and industrial influences. The band experimented with new sounds, incorporating electronic elements and dark textures into their music. Their 2014 album 'I Am King' marked a turning point in their career.
In 2017, Code Orange released their critically acclaimed album "Forever", which propelled the band onto the international stage. The album was nominated for a Grammy Award, earning Code Orange worldwide recognition and confirming their status as innovators in the genre. The band have also toured alongside renowned acts such as Gojira and System of a Down.
As well as their musical impact, Code Orange have also been recognised for their commitment to social and political causes. The band is outspoken on issues such as social injustice, anti-racism and gender equality. Their music is a call to action and a voice for the marginalised, inspiring a generation of fans to stand up and fight for positive change.
