TORPEDO - 16.11.2023
Unitopia is an Australian progressive rock band formed in 1996. It was founded by keyboardist/vocalist Mark Trueack and guitarist/vocalist Sean Timms. Hailing from Adelaide, South Australia, Trueack and Timms assembled a team of talented musicians to bring their musical vision to life.

In 2005, Unitopia released their debut album, entitled "More Than a Dream", to a warm reception from progressive rock fans. The album was praised for its creativity, musical virtuosity and powerful vocal performances. It also brought the band international recognition.

The success of their first album encouraged Unitopia to continue their musical career. In 2008, they released their second studio album, "The Garden", to critical acclaim. The album was nominated for several awards, including Best Progressive Rock Album at the Australian Music Awards.

Over the years, Unitopia has continued to release critically acclaimed albums, including "Artificial" in 2010 and "Covered Mirror" in 2012. The band has also played at numerous progressive rock festivals around the world.

In 2014, Unitopia announced its split. The band members continued to pursue individual musical projects until this unexpected reformation and the release of "Seven Chambers" in 2023, in line with what they had been able to offer previously.

DID YOU KNOW?

The name "Unitopia" was chosen to reflect the idea of a unitary utopia, a world where people would live in harmony and peace.

Founding members Mark Trueack and Sean Timms met in a Genesis cover band. Their shared love of progressive rock motivated them to form their own band.

Following the band's split, Mark Trueack formed a new band called United Progressive Fraternity (UPF) in 2014.

Following the band's split, Sean Timms formed a band called Southern Empire, which released its self-titled debut album in 2016.
