Scar Symmetry is a Swedish melodic death metal band formed in 2004 in Avesta, Sweden, by guitarists Per Nilsson and Jonas Kjellgren, and drummer Henrik Ohlsson. They soon recruited singer Christian Älvestam and bassist Kenneth Seil to complete their line-up.
In 2005, Scar Symmetry released their debut album, entitled "Symmetric in Design". The album was very well received by critics and fans alike, showcasing the band's talent for creating catchy melodies and complex compositions. Songs such as 'The Illusionist' and 'Mind Machine' quickly gained in popularity, establishing Scar Symmetry as one of the most promising bands on the death metal scene.
In 2006, they released their second album, "Pitch Black Progress", which consolidated their status within the metal community. The album was praised for its combination of fast, melodic guitar riffs, technical solos and impressive vocal performances from Christian Älvestam. Songs like 'Slaves to the Subliminal' and 'The Kaleidoscopic God' further set the band apart.
After releasing their third album, "Holographic Universe", in 2008, Scar Symmetry underwent a major line-up change. Christian Älvestam left the band and was replaced by two new singers, Roberth Karlsson and Lars Palmqvist. Despite this change, the band continued to produce high-quality music and released several albums, including "The Unseen Empire" in 2011 and "The Singularity (Phase I - Neohumanity)" in 2014.
