Gotthard is a Swiss hard rock band formed in 1992 in Lugano. The band is known for its powerful, melodic style, combining classic rock influences with elements of heavy metal and glam metal.

Gotthard was formed by guitarist Leo Leoni and drummer Hena Habegger, soon joined by singer Steve Lee, guitarist Mandy Meyer and bassist Marc Lynn.
In 1992, Gotthard released their eponymous debut album, which enjoyed immediate success in Switzerland with hits such as 'Standing in the Light' and 'Firedance'. Their second album, "Dial Hard", released in 1994, consolidated their popularity and brought them international recognition. It was followed by a series of successful albums over the next few years, including "G." (1996), "Open" (1999) and "Lipservice" (2005). These albums produced hits such as 'Heaven', 'Anytime Anywhere' and 'One Life, One Soul'.
In 2010, Gotthard were struck by tragedy when their lead singer, Steve Lee, died in a motorcycle accident while on vacation in the USA. After a period of mourning, the band decided to continue with Nic Maeder as their new singer. They released several albums including "Firebirth" (2012), "Bang!" (2014) and "Defrosted 2" (2018) and "#13" (2020). Unfortunately, these albums didn't make as much of an impact as the first opuses, but this didn't stop Gotthard from continuing their musical activities.
