Hexvessel is a Finnish music band formed in 2009 by British musician and singer Mat McNerney, also known as Kvohst, . After moving to Finland, McNerney assembled a group of talented musicians who shared his artistic vision. Founding members included Kimmo Helén, Simo Kuosmanen, Jukka Rämänen and Vesa Ajomo.
Hexvessel's distinctive sound is a fusion of various musical genres, including folk, psychedelic rock and doom metal. Their music is often described as dark, atmospheric and mysterious, with lyrics inspired by nature, mythology and the occult.
Their debut album, "Dawnbearer" (2011), established their reputation as an innovative band on the musical landscape. They then released "No Holier Temple" (2012), which cemented their status and won acclaim for its atmospheric, poetic lyrics.
As their musical journey continued, Hexvessel continued to explore new sonic horizons. Their album "When We Are Death" (2016) was acclaimed for its successful blend of psychedelic rock and folk, while "All Tree" (2019) showed a more intimate and introspective side of the band.
In 2023, Hexvessel moved towards Black Doom influences with a more accessible and less psychedelic "Polar Veil", which lost none of its icy personality.
