VOTE FOR YOUR ALBUM OF THE YEAR 2020: THE RESULTS

This year, we offered to elect your album of the year 2020 directly on the Music Waves website, while in previous years, you could do it on our Facebook page.
We therefore asked you first to vote for your favorite album from a list of 30 albums from the Top 2020 from the editorial staff of Music Waves. The albums having received the most votes then compete in direct confrontations.
Here are the four albums that garnered the most votes and therefore qualified for the semi-finals:
- PAIN OF SALVATION - Panther
- BLUE OYSTER CULT - The Symbol Remains
- ESTHESIS - The Awakening
- PANEM - Zeitgeist Absolute Monopoly
The first semi-final was won by ESTHESIS with 56.09% of the votes against PAIN OF SALVATION which received 43.91% of the votes.
The second semi-final was won by PANEM with 64.58% of the vote against BLUE OYSTER CULT which received 35.42% of the vote.
The final therefore pitted PANEM against ESTHESIS last week!
 
Suffice to say that the ballot was very close and full of surprises. We had to verify the votes because fake accounts were created and these and their votes were d. This is a point on which we will be more vigilant for the next few times to avoid this kind of problem.
Suffice to say that this survey aroused a lot of passion on the part of the fans of the two groups who took to the game, a little too much. The two groups have also reacted via our Facebook page, here are their press releases.
Esthesis:
Hello, following the use of fake accounts, we no longer wish to be associated with this survey and we are officially withdrawing from this competition. Winning or losing this trophy under conditions where the sincerity of the ballot cannot be fully respected does not suit us. Thank you for taking into account our withdrawal. Thanks to Music Waves for organizing this survey, we know that you have done your utmost to make sure everything turns out as well as possible. We are sorry for you too. Thank you to those who voted for our project, and for their support. The 4 members of Esthesis.
Panem:
For us, the mere fact of being cited in any classification was literally unimaginable: it was not even conceptualized. But a great surprise. However, this is a poll, not a competition. We do not associate music and competition, which are contradictory in our opinion.
We were just delighted to be on this final list along with a French group that is also self-produced. By this yardstick, to designate a "winner" was after all quite anecdotal.
Whether each other's enthusiasm was overwhelming is another story and has little importance compared to the essence of what the two groups do: produce and sincerely offer music that moves them. So, congratulations Esthesis for your beautiful album and lots of good things for the future.
And thank you and bravo Music Waves for the passion with which you support independent productions.
Anyway, in a way, this allowed the two groups to benefit from a great exposure by honoring their productions and this is the main one because the result of this survey is more honorary than something else.
At the end of this poll worthy of the last American elections and a careful verification of the results, it was PANEM which came first with 52.31% of the votes while ESTHESIS received 47.29% of the votes.
We would like to congratulate both groups for these results and hope that they will continue to offer us great music as was the case in 2020.
