Since their debut album in 2005, Karnivool has made a very good reputation on the progressive metal scene. Faithful to their production rhythm, the Australian quintet released this album entitled "Asymmetry" four years after his elder.
No need to keep the suspense any longer, the combo has kept its intrinsic qualities. The production is always flawless and the arrangements complex and sublime. Many listenings in good conditions and in immersion with headphones will be necessary for whoever wants to list them completely.
From an ambience point of view, "Asymmetry" sweeps wide and offers a range of metal, progressive, a bit of industrial ('A.M. War') and unfortunately sometimes more experimental styles. Thus some tracks, such as 'Amusia' or 'Asymmetry' are at best useless, at worst annoying, or even both at the same time. Rest assured that this remains marginal and should not overshadow the other must-have tracks of the album. As for the voice, it's still just as accurate, touching and fully participates in reinforcing this diversity.
How not to be challenged by the use of low frequencies used massively on 'Nachash'? Thereafter, the bass will remain very present but in more reasonable proportions. The most pop among us will revel in 'Eidolon', when the more prog will block the repeat key on 'Sky Machine' and its acoustic guitar line in the background. Finally, let's mention 'The Last Few' which offers us a track with a metallic sound but widely accessible to most people.
Despite a few dispensable tracks, the Australians once again impose their style that will leave no one indifferent. Karnivool renews the feat of offering several levels of listening and discovery while remaining open to the greatest number. So analyze the tracks of this record or let yourself be carried by them, you will not be disappointed! - Official website
