"Faithful to its efficient, martial and epic music, Sabaton offers us with "Heroes" a collection of warlike anthems always as direct and powerful."

Small revolution for the Swedish band Sabaton who welcome three new musicians whereas the formation was remarkably stable until now. It is thus with two new guitarists Thobbe Englund and Chris Rörland and a new drummer Hans Van Dahl that the metal warriors present "Heroes" their eighth album. Faithful to their efficient, martial and epic music, Joakim Broden's band talks about heroes of the second world war of different origins such as Leslie Allen, the Polish resistance fighter Armia Krajowa or the Ardennes Hunters. Let's finally note that this album succeeds "Carolus Rex", album which allowed Sabaton to reach a worldwide fame and to all the honors like playing in full stadiums and receiving various awards.
The perfect production of Peter Tägtgren, head of the black/death band Hypocrisy, gives even more amplitude to this always very catchy music, full of unstoppable melodies and martial choruses of a formidable efficiency. The riffs of the two guitarists are perfectly adjusted and are supported by rhythmic lines. In a similar register to Grave Digger, Sabaton has reached a remarkable level of mastery and a foolproof know-how. "Heroes" is even more powerful than its predecessor. The Swedes know where they want to go and fully assume the somewhat cartoonish character of their subject. As a proof, let's mention the great reinforcement of choirs from the first track 'Night Witches' which refers to the 588th Soviet regiment, known to be specialized in night bombings and to be exclusively composed of women.
Each track is a war hymn to the glory of the heroes of the fight against Nazism. 'Smoking Snakes' pays homage to the Brazilian expeditionary forces that fought in Italy and contains solos that borrow from a folk or medieval repertoire as André Olbrich of Blind Guardian knows how to do it so well. The tempo also knows how to be more calm with 'Inmate 4859', the ballad 'The Ballad Of Bull' or 'To Hell and Back', heady title and frank success with its small traditional melody.
Sabaton who knew glory and recognition with "Carolus Rex" pushes the nail further with this album. The internationalist and anti-nazism purpose of the Swedes is served by an efficient music which combines in a masterly way melody and power. So run to listen to this Heroes, you will surely get pleasure from it if not glory. - Official website
