"Perhaps less inspired and certainly less catchy than "Perfect Element Part 1", "Remedy Lane" is nonetheless an excellent album from Pain Of Salvation."

As the opening act for Dream Theater's European tour in 2002, Pain Of Salvation proved that they are indeed a great progressive metal band. This year, they are back with a concept album based on couples' relationships and the difficulties of taking the right path in life, not with the follow-up to the first part of 'Perfect Element'. Fans of Anathema will not be disoriented by the lyrics.
More "Faith No More" than ever, Pain Of Salvation continues in the style they adopted on "One hour by the concrete Lake". Between Progressive Metal and fusion, "Remedy Lane" is still an album of great musical quality. All the ingredients are present, notably an extraordinary voice, well balanced riffs, ballads, and superb melodies. Unfortunately one or two tracks are more than boring and the originality that made "Perfect Element" a reference is less pronounced.
Maybe less inspired and certainly less catchy, "Remedy Lane" remains a very good album. Several listenings will allow to appreciate it at its true value. - Official website
