A.C.T. is a young band from Sweden (for a change) that offers in their album 'Today's report' a progressive and melodic music rather pleasant and varied.

The singer's voice, rather atypical, can please or displease but cannot leave anyone indifferent. It is between a basic progressive rock voice and that of the singer of Yes. The comparison with Yes does not stop there because it is the first reference that comes to mind.

There is also a lot of inspiration from neo-progressive rock. First of all the very clean production, then the keyboards sometimes in the background, playing chords and sometimes solo. But the interest of "Today's Report" is precisely this placement between the progressive and the neo-progressive. They allow themselves to mix genres, while maintaining a certain cohesion in the compositions. These are also dotted with little musical deliriums. So it is not strange to find on a song some rather aggressive riffs followed by an atmospheric part with synths and acoustic guitar.

"Today's Report", for a first album, is a success from top to bottom. Personally I found it very interesting but sometimes a little messy. The deliriums (which we will talk about again in their second album) either break the atmosphere and the melody, or bring a real plus. A.C.T. is already an extraordinary band that should make a name for itself in the coming years.

OTHER REVIEWS
PAIN OF SALVATION: Remedy Lane (2002)
PROGRESSIVE METAL - Perhaps less inspired and certainly less catchy than "Perfect Element Part 1", "Remedy Lane" is nonetheless an excellent album from Pain Of Salvation.
A.C.T.: Imaginary Friends (2004)
PROGRESSIVE ROCK - Flower Kings fans who like crazy deliriums should undoubtedly appreciate this "Imaginary Friends".
