"Alternating wild rock tracks served by powerful riffs and romantic ballads tinged with medieval folk, Kaipa does Kaipa again and again, but he does it well!"

You take the same ones and start over, that seems to be Kaipa's motto. With a line-up identical to that of the previous albums, this "Sattyg" could have been just another album from the Swedish combo, but it was without counting on the creative imagination of Hans Lundin, founder and composer of the band.

Of course, from the very first notes, the Kaipa style jumps to your ears since it's Aleena Gibson's magical voice that welcomes us in "A Map Of Your Secret World", the first epic piece (15'03) of the album. Once again the compositions are made of alternating between wild rock served by powerful riffs and romantic ballads tinged with medieval folk. The vocals are magnificent, Patrik Lundström who brings the male counterpart of the female vocals gives us a demonstration of strength and finesse, going as far as evoking, at times, Freddy Mercury.

All the titles, or almost all of them, are illuminated by Per Nilsson's guitar soli whose playing doesn't suffer from the comparison with that of a Roine Stolt. There is always a small dose of The Flower Kings in Kaipa's music. "Sattyg", the fourth track, which gives its title to the album, is the shortest and the only one to be entirely in a purely folkloric style. Flute and violin answer each other to bring you into a jumping jig, which is not without reminding some tracks from Mostly Autumn.

It's certainly not with this new opus that Kaipa's detractors will change their minds. If the compositions still manage to surprise us, the musical style remains in line with the previous albums, overflowing with instrumental and vocal richness. Kaipa still does Kaipa, but he does it well!

PROGRESSIVE ROCK - If it stands out as Pink Floyd's testament, The Endless River is also and above all a great album.

DEATH METAL - This first part of "The Singularity" offers a rather classical Melodeath but solid and percussive.
