Ten years have already passed and five albums have followed one another at a steady pace so that the Swedes have become a sure value on the contemporary melodic scene. For this occasion, the band decided to strike a big blow by announcing that the tenth anniversary album would be the first of a trilogy. The ambitious science-fiction concept is centered on a theme dear to Fear Factory, opposing Humanity to robots (artificial intelligence in this case).

After a short introduction, the album really starts with 'Neohuman', which is the real masterpiece of this album, both in substance and shape. This beginning sets the stage for Scar Symmetry's now clearly identifiable melodeath with Lars Palmqvist's clear vocal and Robert Karlsson's growl, perfectly expressing the opposition between Humanity and cold Technology. If the content finally reveals itself without surprise -Scar Symmetry having managed to create its own signature - the perfectly mastered melodeath is endowed with an assumed progressive shape giving an extra soul to the subject.

The combination of this progressive aspect (found on 'Cryonist Harvest' with its strong Soilwork accents) with shorter and more direct tracks in the pure Scar Symmetry tradition ('The Spiral Timeshift'), allows the Swedes to diversify and enrich their discourse to make it more punchy. However, this does not prevent certain titles from giving an impression of repetition. Despite everything in its totality, the listening of "The Singularity (Phase 1 - Neohumanity)" goes by without any dead time at the speed of the dishevelled solos of Jonas Kjellgren and Per Nilsson's guitars, a guarantee of obvious quality.

Will this first part of "The Singularity" finally allow Scar Symmetry to go from a solid discography to an essential part of the melodic scene? To judge it, we will wait impatiently for the follow-up. Anyway, this first part is already a good omen...

KAIPA: Sattyg (2014)
PROGRESSIVE ROCK - Alternating wild rock tracks served by powerful riffs and romantic ballads tinged with medieval folk, Kaipa does Kaipa again and again, but he does it well!
MUSE: Showbiz (1999)
ALTERNATIVE ROCK - Showbiz", the debut album from the young band Muse, is a real success and a most promising start, which will be confirmed by further events.
