Revolution Saints is the surprisingly marriage between Journey, Night Ranger and Whitesnake with Deen Castronovo (drummer/backing vocals with Journey), Jack Blades (bass/vocals with Night Ranger) and Doug Aldritch (ex-guitarist with Whitesnake). But this eponymous melodic Hard Rock album has a leader and its name is Castronovo, firstly because it is through his voice that all the emotions that this opus conveys pass unequivocally and because this album exhales, in an extremely powerful way Journey, the band being indeed present in filigree on almost all the tracks.

At the epicentre of this melodious maelstrom we will be carried away by 'Back On My Trail' which would have found its place with ease on the album "Frontiers" of the above-mentioned, the power ballad 'You're Not Alone' where the voice of Arnel Pineda - Journey's vocalist - blends beautifully with the emphatic impulses of the words and 'Here Forever' a rough mid-tempo diamond where Castronovo is overwhelming and in which Aldritch distils a solo in tune.

But it would be an act to forget 'Turn Back Time' where Blades comes to support Castronovo and put his Night Ranger paw on the track, the ballad 'Way To The Sun' where the third voice of Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline) - producer, keyboardist and songwriter on the opus - as well as the guitar talent of Neal Schon (Journey) complete the whole. It would also be regrettable not to mention 'Dream On' which takes us back to the time when Steve Perry flew over 'Escape', 'Locked Out Of Paradise' where we find his shadow but in a Metal version, like on the ballad 'Don't Walk Away' which reminds us of the fulgurances of 'Faithfully ("Escape"). How could we not also mention 'How To Mend A Broken Heart', the cover of the thundering track from Eclipse ("Are You Ready To Rock" - 2008) and the ballad 'In The Name Of The Father' which closes the album with a high-flying performance by Castronovo and Aldritch.

"Turn Back In Time" is of course an album for die-hard Journey fans. An album both guided by a respectful tribute to the inspirations of the 80's, but also inhabited by a strong will to offer to the project a notable modernism in the sounds. Not to be missed!

OTHER REVIEWS
STEVE ROTHERY: The Ghosts Of Pripyat (2015)
PROGRESSIVE ROCK - Far from the stylistic exercises of a guitar-hero, "The Ghosts Of Pripyat" highlights the incomparable talent of Steve Rothery and provides clear evidence of his major influence within Marillion.
H.E.A.T.: H.e.a.t. (2008)
A.O.R. - The Scandinavian combo compensates for a certain lack of originality with an energy and talent that seem far from having reached their limits.
