"7 Days To The Sabbath" and its 14 tracks is a collection of songs recorded with various guests during different sessions, and compiled for the occasion. You will find names like Brian Forsythe (Kix, Rhino Bucket), Mark Kendall and Audie Desbrow (Great White), or Doug Pettibone (Lucinda Williams) among the participants.

The opus starts with 'No Love In America' on which the master of ceremonies' voice mesmerizes us between the warmth of the verses and the power of the choruses. The center of gravity of each title, the vocals gathers around it the amateurs of all the genres approached by Todd Griffin. The gathering seems to be the leitmotiv of this "7 Days To The Sabbath" allowing the meeting of the fans of the Hard-Blues of The Graveyard Train (Griffin's original combo) and those of the Folk-Rock of "Mountain Man". And if the shadow of the Black Crowes still hovers over some tracks ('Let Your Love Shine', 'Understanding'), it never darkens a group mixing influences with talent. The listener is transported from a light and melancholic Folk-Rock ballad ('New Shoes') to a Heavy-Rock with a fat riff ('Seven Days'), via a cover of David Crosby's 'Almost Cut My Hair' sweating the 70's with a fiery solo by Brian Forsythe, or a 'Manchild', a heartfelt tribute to Jim Morisson worthy of the Doors' most smoky tracks, without ever letting his attention wander.

This is also where Todd Griffin's immense talent lies, able to vary the moods while remaining coherent. A track such as 'Witches Brew' synthesizes this particularity by itself, alternating floating verses and aggressive choruses. His vocals can be as much a gut-wrenching on a 'Man In The Sky' as they can be plaintive and sad on a 'Where The River Flows' that seems to rise from the cotton fields, or on the contrary, they can reassure you in the comfortable warmth of an 'Angels' sweating with a feeling reinforced by a Hammond organ and Mark Kendall's guitar.

Without being too easy to access, this new opus reveals its magic listen after listen so you never let go. A true timeless journey with varied but always bewitching landscapes, it definitively puts Todd Griffin at the top of the Rock.

PROGRESSIVE METAL - Between two records, Vanden Plas takes a more than pleasant break and sees him adapt his songs to the acoustic format for a beautiful result.
