Avantasia is the solo project of Edguy singer Tobias Sammet, who has just enjoyed great success with his album "Theater of salvation". Sammet, with the complicity of his record company who gave him complete creative freedom, took advantage of the opportunity to realize one of his dreams, a metal opera. He decided to surround himself with the greatest singers on the metal scene, including Mickeal Kiske, André Matos (ex Angra, Shaman), David De Feis (Virgin Steel), Sharon Den Adel (Within Temptation) and Kai Hansen (Gamma Ray). As for the musicians, he brings together Henjo Richter (Gamma Ray) on guitar, Markus Grosskopf (Helloween) on bass and Alex Holzwarth (Rhapsody) on drums.

Avantasia's story is set in a fantasy world, featuring epic characters and tales. Themes include the struggle between good and evil, the search for truth, the quest for self and the pursuit of freedom. Song lyrics are often profound and emotionally charged, reflecting the struggles and triumphs of the story's protagonists.

Musically, Avantasia offers a fusion of symphonic metal, power metal and hard rock. The songs are often characterized by catchy melodies, orchestral arrangements, vocal harmonies and virtuoso guitar solos. The album offers a varied palette of sounds, alternating between fast, energetic tracks, moving ballads and epic compositions. Kiske is discreet, but he has never sung so well, as on 'Reach out for the light' and 'Avantasia', in which he shares the vocals with Tobias Sammet. These two tracks are the high points of the album. Other highlights include 'Farewell', on which Sharon Den Adel transcends an already excellent track, or 'Sign of the cross', with its 5 different singers.

Fluidity and harmonies are the watchwords of this "Avantasia". Everything is done to serve the story, and Sammet offers a perfect alchemy between his (many) contributors. "Avantasia" is a great melodic metal album, and quite simply a reference for fans of the genre.
