"Permanent flirtation between old-fashioned progressive rock, the most accomplished symphonic metal and baroque orchestration, "The Electric Castle" is considered as one of the best albums of Ayreon."

Careful, great artist! Artist rather than band, because Ayreon is above all the structure carried by bassist Arjen Lucassen, who cumulates the roles of bassist, singer, songwriter and producer. The other musicians, individually invited on this album, include Clive Nolan on keyboards and Fish on vocals.
Arjen Lucassen's great passion is composing concept albums, or rather "space-opera", as is subtitled "Into the Electric Castle". A breathtaking scenario, which features roles played by a plethora of singers, including Fish.
The style? A permanent flirtation between old-fashioned progressive rock, the most accomplished symphonic metal, and baroque orchestration. Theme covers, changes of instruments... All the keyboards and guitars go through Ayeron's scores to form a real opera on two CDs. Royal.
Ayreon has since composed other comparable albums, but this opus is to be saluted. Rare are the discs so federative (all tendencies of progueux will find their account there) and imaginative. - Official website
