""Babylon is simply Ten's best album!"

The fifth opus from Gary Hughes' band Ten, "Babylon", released in 2000, is a concept album about a computer programmer's love affair in 2999.
Don Airey is invited to play keyboards in a line-up that hasn't seen another change since the previous year's "Spellbound". Called upon throughout his career by the greats from Black Sabbath and Whitesnake to Jethro Tull and Judas Priest, the keyboardist lends notable support to Ten's ever-catchy scores and classy melodic hard rock.
The care taken with the melodies is worthy of a goldsmith's work. The atmosphere is by turns grandiloquent, moving, galvanizing and dramatic. Every track is addictive, and every listen brings a new discovery, even fifteen years after its release. The five stars even fall short of the mark for a few of them, such as 'The Stranger', 'The Heat' and the long ballad 'Valentine'.
"Babylon" is one of Ten's best albums, perhaps even their best. You'll cross paths with Gary Hughes at the height of his powers, supported magnificently by Vinny Burns and Don Airey, whose sensitivity and energy will leave you speechless, emotionally exhausted and staring into space. A little-known must-have, but a must-have to be rehabilitated. - Official website Did you know?
"Babylon" is a concept album based on the biblical story of the Tower of Babel. The lyrics explore themes of inordinate ambition, cultural diversity and the quest for power.
