"Following in the footsteps of Metallica or Slayer, "Alliance of Thieves" is the thrash album of the year 2016, quite simply!"

Meshiaak is a thrash metal band composed of Danny Camilleri (4ARM), Dean Wells (Teramaze), Nick Walter and Jon Dette (Slayer, Iced Earth, Anthrax, Testament), formed in Melbourne (Australia) in 2014 who has the ambition to give a worthy successor to Metallica's "Ride The Lightning", Megadeth's "Rust In Peace" and Slayer's "South Of Heaven".
With such a business card, no doubt about the content to come, and the first tracks confirm it from the start, Meshiaak officiates in a classic, speed and heavy thrash while remaining melodic and catchy ('Chronique Of The Dead', 'It Burns At Both Ends' or 'Alliance Of Thieves' a little further on). Indeed, the riffs are sharp and fast, Dette martyrs his drum kit with mastery and the power of Camilleri's voice works wonders in a tone close to that of James Hetfield.
But don't think that speed and brutality are the only assets of this frenetic "Alliance Of Thieves". The Australian quartet show us another facet, much more subtle, melodious and with cleverly placed arrangements that bring a very natural fluidity on the languorous 'I am Among You'. Dean Wells's magical solo shows that the contribution of a guitarist who played progressive metal brings a consistency that raises the album above the usual productions of the genre.
The trend is confirmed with the double track 'Drowning, Fading, Falling' and 'At The Edge Of The World', the melodic climax of the album, where heavy overrides the raw thrash at the beginning, the latter even offering a sweet Ghost Brigade style chorus on a catchy mid-tempo. If the frantic rhythm quickly regains its rights afterwards, the unstoppable melodies don't completely disappear since the finale of 'Maniacal', despite a very fast intro reminding the Slayer of the beginning, offers a new amazing solo by Wells and heavy riffs sounding like in the great hours of Metallica.
In the purest tradition of late 80's thrash, Meshiaak succeeds in reviving a style sclerotic by fixed codes and an often too limited inspiration. Thanks to traditional and more modern contributions, the Australians sign there one of the cornerstones of the heavy music of this decade. Not to be missed under any circumstances. - Official website
