Fourth album for The Murder Of My Sweet the cinema-symphonic metal band of Daniel Flores, "Echoes Of The Aftermath" comes to our cottages two years after the appreciated concept album "Beth Out Of Hell".

The Swedes, who have started to make a name for themselves, offer us here a new material composed of twelve tracks, this time with no link between them. So, there's no common thread here, except the one that characterizes them since their debut seven years ago, which is a mix of rock and pop played with a lot of muscle, emphasis and symphonic impulses.

It is therefore obvious that you can't expect anything revolutionary with this new opus. There's nothing to turn upside down when it comes to musical identity, but nothing disappointing either. Fans will continue to appreciate Angelica's melodious flights of fancy who remains an interesting performer. As for the detractors, they'll continue to have a field day, castigating the too pop side of the combo's compositions.

The Murder Of My Sweet takes care of its melodies, the effort in this domain is felt on each track. It doesn't always achieve its goal because the listening is not stunning on the whole work, but it is nevertheless constantly pleasant. The downside lies more on the side of the lack of variation felt in the melodic lines. The band would certainly benefit from more variation in the melodic fluctuations of their compositions. Nevertheless, those who appreciate this kind of sounds should not be overly disappointed, as some unavoidable hits are nested in the heart of the opus.

In a conclusive way, "Echoes Of The Aftermath", an opus a little wiser than its elder brother, is, thanks to its enchanting melodies, its evocative ambiences and its rhythmic breath, a very recommendable pop/rock record.

EMPEROR: Prometheus – The Discipline Of Fire And Demise (2001)
BLACK METAL - Prometheus draws a parallel between its own concept and the story of Emperor itself, with a dizzying intelligence and a timeliness that reflects the incredible care taken in its conception.
THUNDER: Rip It Up (2017)
HARD ROCK - "Rip It Up" confirms Thunder in its leadership of an English-style hard rock, maybe not very original, but devilishly well written and interpreted.
