Two years after "Armageddonize", the band of Erik the Swede resurfaced to the delight of the impatient crowds who had furiously fallen for the fifth opus of the northern men. "Monumentum" is the name of the object and for the moment everyone hopes that it bears his name well.

The frontman has probably already become one of the leading hard rock figures of the decade, much as the sparkling and unifying Tobias Sammet (Edguy) was in the past. Guitarist, composer, vocalist and leader, he develops, through his compositions and his vision of music, an idea of rock that can only gather enthusiastic support. For him, an effective title is a title that makes him want to wave his fist up and sing.

Finally its recipe is simple. All he has to do is compose powerful, melodic, energetic songs with catchy choruses. Walls of metallic sounds wrapped in AOR/pop kind, an easy listening which hide some powered parts. Vicious process, effective result. But the most difficult thing was to stay the course for the long haul. It's still a long way from focusing on two or three songs, but reproducing the exercise on a whole album was a different matter. A Successfully taken up challenge ! Martenson proves here that he is one of the best singers of his generation, and his guitar twinning with his friend Henriksson is taken there to its peak. Moreover, Ulfsted, the man with four strings, found in Crusner, the new drummer, a choice accomplice, the two hammerers cheerfully striving to energize the atmosphere.

The pieces follow one another without an ounce of weakness and hit you in a thousand ways. A brilliant album, once again, and now a single watchword: rise your horns to the Eclipse!
