Needless to say, this new Riverside album was eagerly awaited by the progressive community... This band that MW made you discover when they were not yet signed to a prog label has achieved a dazzling career thanks to a single album. InsideOut didn't take long to get this Polish prodigy who, without revolutionizing progressive music, managed to impose his style between neo floydian rock and aggressive metal accompanied by a vocal that goes from soft to raging screams.

Faced with a release of this kind, MW had to present you this "Second Life Syndrome" with a long and dithyrambic review... It will not be... The reason is not that the album is without interest, on the contrary, but simply that Riverside has sat on its pedestal and does not seem ready to question a style that made its reputation.

Thus, no good or bad surprise: "Second Life Syndrome" is copied from "Out Of Myself". You will find as well the soaring soli on the ultra effective keyboards chords as the power ascents ending from time to time in explosion of aggressiveness. Perhaps the progressive aspect is more pronounced with the famous rough and repetitive instrumental phrases, sometimes slightly dissonant.

For a more detailed description, I refer you to the review of "Out Of Myself". If Riverside does not disappoint at all, the result is less spontaneous. The album can be listened to in one go with great pleasure but the similarities with its predecessor are sometimes a little too obvious to be totally carried away.

OTHER REVIEWS
NIGHTINGALE: Invisible (2004)
ATMOSPHERIC METAL - Nightingale allows us to appreciate the less extreme side of Dan Swanö. No growl nor hyper technical riff in this "Invisible", just a very melodic and direct music.
ALLEN / LANDE: The Battle (2005)
MELODIC HARD ROCK - Bringing together the singers of Symphony X, Ark and the Starbreaker guitarist for a melodic metal record was an excellent idea....
