In 2015, the first album of Serious Black had raised a host of good reviews in the small world of hard rock, and its little brother, in its long version, deserved just as much praise. Not all all the all-star bands manage to get everyone to agree so radically, far from it. In fact, we're almost in the realm of the exception here. The third opus, always very risky for young bands, was therefore awaited with a certain impatience by those who had had the opportunity to throw an ear to the first two albums.
In almost an hour, Serious Black offers us what he knows how to do best, that is to say, a hyper catchy power metal. The fourteen tracks are all formatted to concomitantly satisfy metalheads and fans of friendly radio songs, those dear to AOR and hard FM. An iron hand in a velvet glove, here's an image that suits this combo perfectly.
The musical cohesion is very strong. It's squared, with precise gears worthy of a Swiss cuckoo clock and a remarkable fluidity. These guys know exactly where they want to take us and that's where they lead us, bound hand and foot in inextricable nets such as 'Serious Black Magic', 'True Love Is Blind', 'Binary Magic', 'Lone Gunman Rule' and 'I Can Do Magic'... addictive musical bombs. The list of examples could have been longer, but on closer inspection, and without any exaggeration, all the tracks of the work could have been cited.
So here we have in our hands probably the best album of the Germans so far. Given the quality of the first two albums, this is an undeniable weight. This album is a melodic steamroller that will undoubtedly blow your shell to pieces. - Official website
