Five Finger Death Punch's career path was perfect, like an ideal American dream. But in 2017, it experienced some turbulence with an Ivan Moody on the verge of burn out, which resulted in his replacement by the excellent Tommy Vext. The mess was only slightly avoided with the return of Moody from August and the seventh album, ready since late 2016, can finally see daylight.  "And Justice For None" has the task of making people forget these setbacks and start again towards the tops. If the band has his detractors, he has above all an armada of fans eager to see if he is able to drive the nail in. The band spoils them with two editions featuring two different covers and 16 tracks on the deluxe version.

Five Finger Death Punch has found the magical musical recipe and they don't change it one inch. We find on the album this modern heavy metal, powerful enough to federate with big touches of US hard rock cut for the radio waves. The disc is built in a coherent way with a thunderous beginning then 5FDP softens the tone and becomes seductive. At the beginning of the record, the sequence 'Trouble', 'Fake' and 'Top Of The World' is a perfect symbol of the art of the band. The listener swims in a modern heavy tinged with Pantera-like groove and carried by unifying refrains. The whole thing is interpreted by a Moody at the top of his form, perfect in rough and clear vocals. It's a good stirring and should be a big hit in music pits all over the world.

After this thunderous beginning, the record alternates between catchy and strong tracks. As far as sweets are concerned, the fan will be served. There is the cover of 'Blue On Black' by Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Between blues rock and hard rock, the band is very comfortable and does not denature the song. The ballads are numerous: 'I Refuse', 'Stuck In My Ways' or 'Bloody' are successes with a small side Nickelback, carried by a deep song full of feeling. But 'When The Seasons Change' and 'Will The Sun Rise' are too much and disturb the balance of the record. On the other hand, 'Sham Pain' tinged with Faith No More is a great success and on the level of pure power, 'It Doesnt' Matter' and 'Rock Bottom' are real missiles with big riffs and for the second one, a modern thrashy side like Soulfly. Fire In The Hole' is just as interesting. In less than 3 minutes 5FDP offers a track rich of a beautiful martial force and equipped with heavy soli which dislocate. The limited edition offers two typical tracks of this strong and catchy US heavy - they would have replaced the two ballads.

"And Justice For None" is an efficient work, both rich and varied. Five Finger Death Punch shows an impressive know-how and confirms that in the new metal generation, they are probably the best positioned to unite a very large audience. Some people will undoubtedly find it rude and lacking in sincerity, but one must sometimes know how to incline in front of an undeniable success

GAZPACHO: Soyuz (2018)
PROGRESSIVE ROCK - "Soyuz" proves to be much less intense than the previous Gazpacho releases, which at times loses the listener's attention through a lack of melody and memorable moments.
ZEAL & ARDOR: Stranger Fruit (2018)
BLACK METAL - "Stranger Fruit" is a brilliant, demanding and ingenious avant-garde album that nobody expected.
