"First double album of Doro's career, "Forever Warriors, Forever United" is overall very successful despite a second record a little too focused on ballads."

The link between Doro and her fans is so fraternal that it is unique. As time goes by, the Metal Queen has become a refuge. Determined not to give up, she's back with "Forever Warriors, Forever United". Doro has chosen to strike a big blow by offering her first double album. With this title and a cover representing her and her colleagues ready to fight, she clearly seeks to unite heavy metal fans. The idea is noble but is not without risk because 22 new songs are thrown here, and even 25 if we add the bonuses.
The first part, "Forever Warriors" is a good mix of power and melody. With 'All For Metal', Doro throws out an anthem that is made for the stage. Carried by a good chorus, even if it is very classical, the title makes its effect in a nice way. The record is well balanced, 'Bastardos' is a beautiful tribute to Lemmy Kilmister. Close to an AC/DC, 'Blood, Sweat And Rock'n'Roll' makes you tap your feet and 'Backstage To Heaven' and 'Turn It Up' are quite effective. Varied, the disc offers two beautiful ballads, including one in German, 'Freunde Fürs Leben, and 'Soldier Of Metal', two beautiful hymns to brotherhood loaded with emotions. Finally the duet with Johan Hegg of Amon Amarth, 'If I Can't Have You - No One Will', is a success, proposing a haunting and powerful side endowed with a beautiful martial force.
"Forever United" begins with another unifying title: 'Resistance' has everything of an anthem with a strong chorus and a heavy rhythm. Thereafter, the recipe is the same but it runs out of breath a little. The ballads are numerous and the record drags on. Doro likes to make the emotion speak, but between 'Lift Me Up', 'It Cuts So Deep', 'Living Life To The Fullfest' and '1000 Years', it borders on an overdose of good feelings. Luckily there is still some heavy stuff on the program. 'Heartbroken' is an excellent moment with a very good solo by Doug Aldrich. One will also retain a 'Fight Through The Fire' carried by the powerful vocals of Doro and by a good riff. She pays a last homage to her buddy Lemmy with a beautiful cover of 'Lost In The Ozone' perfectly performed with a nice emotional side.
The balance of this double album is positive, it's just a pity that "Forever United" is a little less successful than its twin. After so many years it's nice to see Doro still in such good shape serving the heavy metal cause. - Official website
