If they are true legends in the United Kingdom, it cannot be said that Thunder is unleashing passions in France. The proof is in the few albums reviewed in our pages and the size of the rooms hosting the band in France. So even if the purpose of the object is to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the London band, it is legitimate to wonder about the interest of this compilation entitled "Please Remain Seated". And yet, this opus deserves its title and it is advised to all fans to respect the posted instructions by remaining seated.

Indeed, from the first track, the surprise is huge with a 'Bigger Than The Both Of Us' that has little to do with the biting hard rock on "Laughing On Judgement Day" (1992). British veterans have decided to revisit their repertoire without setting a limit and the result is simply amazing. Thunder alternates here versions close to the original ones but with a little dusting and rereading that may confuse many people. Among the first ones, we will mention "Future Train" with a classy solo, "I'm Dreaming Again" and "Blown Away" or a "Low Life In High Places" which closes the album with an evocative power that shakes the listener's feelings one last time.

Let's mention again "Girl's Going Out Of Her Head" which abandon its glamorous attire of 1990 ("Backstreet Symphony") for a jazzy and joyful atmospher, 'Empty City' which has become bluesy and silky or 'Miracle Man' which s its greasy hard rock for an acoustic format that does not deprive it of its energy. As for "Loser", it goes in the opposite direction to its original sharp and dark hard rock for a beautiful ballad with blues hues. Finally, 'She's So Fine' is funky and catchy with positive energy. To be noted within a flawless global interpretation, the sing of Danny Bowes, who, often accompanied by powerful choirs, has never sounded so close to Joe Bonamassa and who has a total mastery in the art of transmitting emotions.

By taking the risk of surprising his fans, Thunder finally offers a work that is both engaging and powerfully evocative. With this opus, the band demonstrate a great maturity and an open-mindedness. Be careful, "Please Remain Seated" can quickly turn out to be addictive while making you want to (re)discover the whole discography of this group unfairly ignored in our country.
