""Storm The Gates" is a crude weakness on the part of a Venom."

Venom's career looks like a roller coaster with high and low. In recent years, the British veteran has offered interesting records with live performances worthy of its name. Serenity should prevail but competition from Venom Inc, formed by Cronos' former colleagues, is still in minds.
The band didn't change its recipe with a heavy old school thrash carried by a dirty and raw in-house production. In the speedy and punk tinged genre 'The Might Have Fallen' and 'We The Heavy' are nice. There is ardour that makes you headbang in an old school spirit and Cronos tears his voice off in a beautiful way. 'Over My Dead Body' is interesting with a speed side and a worrying dark break of the best effect. Finally 'Notorius' ,'Dark Night (Of The Soul)' and 'Immortal' are respectable in a classical style for Venom with a raw side and good choruses.
Unfortunately, Next to these tracks, it's the desert with the autopilot on and the handicap of a dirty sound worthy of an amateur band. We swim in the mediocre with '100 Miles To Hell' and 'Beaten To A Pulp' and in the frankly bad with 'Bring Out Your Dead', 'I Dark Lord', 'Destroyer' and 'Suffering Dictates'.
Venom could do much better, but this is probably too much to ask of a Cronos frozen in the past. "Storm The Gates" is a crude weakness on the part of Venom. This opus is only saved by a few flashes and will certainly be quickly forgotten. - Official website
