"Line Of Fire" is the third opus of First Signal, a combo symbolizing one of the solo lives of Harry Hess, the lead singer of Canadian melodic hard rock band Harem Scarem. He is on this work associated with Swedish drummer Daniel Flores (The Murder Of My Sweet, Find Me) who also plays keyboards and is in charge of the production, and offers us what he does best: an opus full of beautiful melodies carried by gentle hard rock rhythmics.

If the releases of the genre multiply these last years and the result isn't always up to expectations, it's not the case with this "Line Of Fire". It has to be said that Hess has got us used, whether with Harem Scarem or on his various solo escapades, to works flirting with the remarkable. If you add to this constant the presence of the aforementioned Swede, who knows what clean production means, and that of his compatriot Michael Palace,  there is little chance of being disappointed.

Of course, no one will be able to argue that the ten tracks on offer here have a little bit of a familiar ring to them. But melodic hard rock has its codes and their certain immutability rarely gives rise to original attempts. Once this obvious fact has been swept away, the pleasure of listening to Hess remains and the desire to sing with him the unstoppable choruses that populate this "Line Of Fire". Between scores that Harem Scarem wouldn't have disowned and tracks that Bon Jovi would have liked to interpret, this album is a factory of FM hits. Among them - but the choice is Cornelian - we find the unstoppable 'A Million Miles', the galvanising 'Tonight We Are The Only' (Jon, get out of this body!) and the addictive 'Need You Know'.

This is an album that will delight fans of the genre and especially those of the Canadian with the golden voice. In line with everything that the gentleman has proposed since the birth of Harem Scarem, he can only satisfy his groupies. Those who don't know his works and appreciate melodic hard rock must hurry up and catch up.
