Originally from Lille and owner of a southern blues rock sound since 2016, Black River Sons is not an unknown name on Music Waves. The group delighted us with their hot performances in 2017 at Barlain's Ch'ti Rock and at Raismes Fest. His first EP showed him very comfortable with a bluesy warmth combined with a southern sound in the spirit of Black Crowes or Blackberry Smoke. With "Poison Stuff", he releases a much awaited debut album that we expect him to confirm a certain potential.

Composed of 10 tracks, the disc is in the line of the EP with a tone that seems to come from an old bar in the United States. This album is a journey of great richness and a huge feeling. From the outset, we will highlight the slow tracks charged with a certain melancholy. Partly acoustic "Spill Your Guns" is a superb Southern rock moment with a voice tinged with whisky malt, so gripping. In the same spirit, 'Poison Stuff' and 'I Remember' are just as excellent with the same strength of soul and blues.

Next to these titles we find a beautiful collection of more rock tracks while keeping a warm aspect.  On 'Born Again','Loaded Gun' or 'Way Of Life', Black River Sons unveils impressive know-how. There is the perfect hoarse voice, especially on very loud choruses, with a huge musical work. The solos and riffs are of a rare class, burning and intense. The finesse of the ensemble is remarkable and explodes on the last track of the album, "Wheels Of Fortune" which had shown its potential live. It is confirmed on studio, with its old briscard side and an instrumental part of great beauty with a jamming side burning.

With this first album, Black River Sons confirms a crazy talent for a Southern rock full of old-fashioned charm. As Lynyrd Skynyrd is about to hang up the guitars, the northern group is launching with this "Poison Stuff" a record that can allow it to compete with the new generation of the genre.
