The release of the band's tenth album with the intriguing name ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead might never have seen the light of day. With Jason Reece and Conrad Keely both working on other projects, it took the band 6 years to offer a successor to the "IX" album. Conrad Keely having gone to live in Cambodia, the band found itself on a break for 4 years. In early 2019, the multi-instrumentalist then returned to the country and started working on an album with his compatriot Jason Reece. Logically, this new album evokes the difficulty of leaving a place he loved.

On the influence side, "X: The Godless Void And Other Stories" is still an alternative/independent rock record like the previous releases, with a more marked pop touch than in the past. This return to the forefront also coincides with a signing with the InsideOut Music label, more renowned for its extensive progressive catalogue.

In any case, this album has the characteristic of being particularly diversified. There are some very rock tracks like 'All Who Wander' or the lively 'Into The Godless Void' which reminds us of U2 with its distortion-rich guitars. A lull is felt on tracks like 'Something Like This' with its trippy side, led by a clear and bewitching vocal. There are also singles like 'Children Of The Sky' with its Oasis side or 'Gravity' which is part of the album's more pop influences, while 'Don't Look Down' has more of an indie rock feel to it.

Other songs turn out to be quite unexpected. For example the very interesting 'Gone' creates a tension and a crescendo that never explodes. 'Blade Of Wind', in a longer and more complete register, contributes to the enrichment of the sound palette with a rather addictive and well constructed chorus.

"X: The Godless Void And Other Stories" is an alternative rock album built around simple songs that will be immediately tamed and should delight the band's fans.
