If DeVicious had initially proposed a nice melodic hard rock melody pulling towards the AOR, "Reflections", their second opus surprised everyone by raising the tone. "Phase Three" drives the nail in with a content still melodic but more heavier than ever.

The band has evolved with a new singer Antonio Calanna, an Italian who came out of nowhere, or more precisely from a model book. The frontman is handsome but wipe out your smiles, because the guy's a great singer and could play in the same yard as Tobias Sammet (Edguy, Avantasia).

"Phase Three" is constant album with a few more striking peaks. Any lover of melodic hard rock will find his marks on it. No surprises to be expected, but no air holes nor fillers. DeVicious is solid, it comes from across the Rhine. Listen to the first three tracks of the opus and you'll know without ambiguity what to expect, melodic hard rock with a dynamic rhythm or melodic hard rock in a heavier mid-tempo version. 'Firefly' and 'Mysterious', with their catchy choruses, fall into the first category, 'Pouring Rain' and its chorus repeated sixteen times - when you like it sometimes you count - in the second.

The rest evolves on these straight lines. The titles follow one another and display three constants: all give the envy to sing, they are rather lively with notable solos. Let's mention a monumental bass on 'Calling My Name' and a slower movement on 'Bad Timing', a piano ballad that closes the work like the obligatory climax of the 80's albums, and that disperses some of the scents of Bryan Adams' '(Everything I Do) I Do It For You'. Let's also note a synthesizer debut worthy of those blessed years on 'Higher', an instrumental incongruity worthy of Space Art ('Unstoppable Interlude'), and the addictive hit 'You Can't Stop Now'.

This band is the living proof that it is possible to compose a successful album in a short period of time. The developed power goes crescendo, the melodic quality is there to make you have a good time.
