And three for InVertigo, which returns at the end of 2019 with a third opus called "InMotion". Seven years after their second album "Veritas", the Germans are back to share their love for the neo-progressive rock.
On the menu, six tracks lasting from 6 to 10 minutes, enough to give the quintet the opportunity to develop their message. Throughout the 45 minutes, this album will seek neo-prog influences, but not only. The main guitar riff of 'Wasted Time' could remind you of Dream Theater's progressive metal, while the beginning of 'Listen To The Smell Of The Pretty Picture' is very smooth, brought by a delicate flute. But generally speaking, it's the neo-prog that's mostly felt, as on the first song, 'Interrupted', which draws its inspiration from the old Riverside albums from the "Out Of Myself" period, especially on the verses. There's a sometimes orchestral aspect at the end of the title with the presence of keyboards in the background.
'Listen To The Smell Of The Pretty Picture', thanks to its numerous ambiences, offers a rich and interesting listening. The climax of the track is reached on its second part thanks to a very beautiful guitar solo characterized by its floydian side and a very successful finale. Let us also note the chorus of 'Wasting Time', by far the most successful passage of the album: heady, simple and effective, it will remain in your head for a while.
Generally speaking, "InMotion" is an interesting album with a varied and pleasant atmosphere but it lacks a little bit of feeling and highlights. Let's hope that its authors won't take 7 years to find a successor for it. - Official website
