A Thrash band born in the United States more than fifteen years ago, Warbringer has produced five studio albums that have often received good reviews. The previous record ("Woe to the Vanquished"), between power and melodic softness, had allowed the band to find a balance and to free themselves from past turbulences. However, this didn't prevent the bassist (Jessie Sanchez) from giving up his place to Chase Bryant (Oni and ex. Aquila) for the new album "Weapons of Tomorrow".

From the very first notes of 'Firepower Kills', the band displays an intense aggressiveness through the voice, dissonances and fast rhythms. Coroner's shadow hovers: high-pitched vocals and unhealthy harmonies, while in Warbringer's veins runs the blood of Metallica era "Ride The Lightning" with the whistling six-string.

The arpeggios of 'Deifance of Fate' are reminiscent of 'Call of Ktulu': the same icy atmosphere and the same anguish arise. This composition is a bottomless abyss that sucks in souls and seduces as much as it terrorizes. 'Heart of Darkness' plunges into the progressive with its numerous detours, heavy riffs mixed with evanescent arpeggios. Then 'Outer Reaches' builds suffocating harmonies worthy of 'Allison Hell' from 'Alice in Hell' (Annihilator), carried by an epileptic riff and a voice that twists the eardrums.

With its slow tempo, 'The Black Hand Reaches Out' generates a powerful groove that softens aggressiveness. Finally 'Notre Dame' is a patchwork of sensations and colours, starting with simple arpeggios and then raising intense energy. The opposition between the fast riffs and the single-note drums makes you lose all reference points, as if you were travelling in a parallel dimension.

For lack of being innovative, "Weapons of Tomorrow" is a solid and square record, with impeccable structures. Warbringer offers a rereading of his influences, with harmonies, riffs or arpeggios that could have belonged to Voivod, Metallica, Annihilator or Coroner with this record that tends to reassure the fans, rather than mishandle them or shake them up...
