"Edenya is back with a very successful "Silence" with progressive, post rock, sometimes metal and experimental influences, always at the service of the songs."

Edenya became known as a duo in 2017 with the release of a long eponymous EP noticed by a beautiful symbiosis and an ambient / trip hop musical form close to Dead Can Dance. Afterwards, the formation reduced to Marco alone experienced doubts and uncertainties after the departure of Idia, the original singer. But Edenya cultivates the paradox of being both modest and yet willing to share his work with the wider world. With this will, Marco has kept his course by recruiting two singers: Elena and Rémi who have supported him in his artistic approach and encouraged him to continue.
Edenya's music puts at the center of his project the search for emotions with a whole bunch of perfectly digested influences ranging from The Gathering or Anathema to Mike Oldfield (especially during the "Crises" period). Pretty guitar measures welcome the listener in a fluffy 'The Promise' carried by Elena's voice which brings a fragile side to the music. The track rises in power until a beautiful epic explosion where the rhythm takes a little bit of madness, enhanced by the intervention of a nervous violin accompanied by pretty guitar projections. The ambient and vaporous side of the first EP can be found in 'Sabrina' which establishes a dialogue between two feminine people, one ghostly represented by verses where the music adopts a minimalist line and the other embodied by an irresistible refrain and denser in terms of instrumentation, reminding us of Mike Oldfield's work. Elena's voice also seems more fragile according to the dialogue. We would have forgotten the male voice in this story, this one arrives in 'All The Want' for the only real duet of the album. Rémi has an almost sweet timbre which is counterbalanced by Elena's lyricism in the choruses. Marco appreciates the changes of rhythm, giving his album an undeniable progressive aspect as shown by the evolution of the composition: the end is more raging like The Gathering.
Deeply marked by the Bataclan attack and the events of November 2015, Edenya wonders in a very beautiful track 'Will The Demons Wins' with at the beginning these samples of TV news that haven't finished to freeze our blood. The semi-acoustic track is interpreted with sobriety by Rémi who jostles the end, reminding us of nice post-rock passages from Anathema. This relief brings to the sensitivity to the project, focused above all on the search of the emotion felt by the listener. The progressive aspect, often in filigree, is accentuated in 'Silence' which adopts a more complex structure multiplying the melodic movements rather well brought alternating acoustics, quasi metal passages with a saturated guitar, lyrical moments and a more folk and post rock conclusion.
The album also has two instrumental tracks that seem to answer themselves. 'Broken Love', in which piano and violin are the common thread of a deeply delicate track without being overly sentimental, contrasts with the much more electric and brutal 'Chaos', reminiscent of the works of God Is an Astronaut or Mono.
If Edenya almost didn't recover from the departure of his singer, Marco was right to persevere and to have surrounded himself well to end up with the release of this very well done "Silence". This new trio album continues the sound experimentation started in the first EP to go deep into the deepest feelings and if it tackles delicate themes, it's always with accuracy and modesty. An album that we couldn't pass over in silence! - Official website
