Welcome to the Cosmic Club (at a time when everyone else is closing for health reasons)! A club where heavy blues, rock, hard seventeen and grunge meet... in short, something to clean your ears for the winter. The formation recently released an EP soberly called "Aurora" made up of 4 tracks with overflowing energy. If sometimes the announcement does not really stick to the proposed tracks, Cosmic Club shows the opposite.
Because of its protean style that is difficult to classify because of the mix of genres, "Aurora" is a highly dynamic and catchy EP like the track 'Cupid's Arrows' with its groovy and heavy bass, dynamited by an addictive and memorable heavy blues chorus. In this deluge, 'Wine Orgyrin' looks towards Californian rock a la Red Hot with aggressive riffs and a certain freshness brought by a little funky touches close to the band Extreme.
Faced with this rhythmic surge, 'What's In Your Eyes' counterbalances the atmosphere with its heavy mid-tempo which brings a certain depth to the whole which finally does not want to go only in pure energy. The title that is initially in a low tempo in a very natural and well constructed way, progresses towards a second half, explosive and enjoyable. A piece synthesizes perfectly what was proposed in the three preceding titles: 'Superheroes' which is draped in a progressive construction made of breaks and changes of rhythms. One feels in this title a heavy and raging influence in the Faith No More style.
"Aurora" is thus a beautiful business card for Cosmic Club to establish its mixed personality despite its strong influences. This process of mixing different styles is often a perilous exercise but the band is doing rather well here. It will remain to be confirmed in an album that should not be long in coming. - Official website
