4th album of the Swedes, if we count the 1st LP, would Wolverine have finally found his way? After a promising first try that could be described as progressive death metal ("Fervent Dream"), after the superb metal prog "The Window Purpose" and the mixed atmospheric prog "Cold Light of Monday", Wolverine continues to purify his music on the way of an atmospheric prog, forsaking the particularly boring experimental interludes that marked "Cold Light of Monday" in such a way as to discourage even the most reckless of listeners!

In this respect, Wolverine's new effort is definitely more homogeneous than its predecessor, even if it is a subtle mix of melancholic prog metal dear to Pain of Salvation, atmospheric rock and some tracks with electro accents ("Sleepy Town") on which Stefan Zell's voice is marvellous! And not to make anyone jealous, the latter expresses itself on both metallic and atmospheric tracks and is capable of conveying a wide range of emotions, especially in the quiet parts!

Musically speaking, we very quickly get to the heart of the matter with an exciting 2-minute instrumental intro that alternates heavy riffs and quiet parts; a perfect synthesis of what "Still" will be. At the end of this sublime opening, the master of the place - in this case Stefan Zell- is given the place to charm us with his bewitching vocal!

If we can see that Wolverine's music is becoming more and more atmospheric through its evolution, the Swedes don't forget their metal base as can be seen on tracks with heavy riffs like on "Liar On The Mount", "This Cold of Mine", offering us devastating solos introduced by hyper-inspired breaks or heady choruses that never let us go even after the album is finished!

Wolverine seems to have passed a step to become a mature adult band that offers us an album that can be enjoyed from beginning to end without us getting bored for a second!

OTHER REVIEWS
ANGRA: Aurora Consurgens (2006)
MELODIC METAL - "Aurora Consurgens" is an excellent album, less direct than "Temple Of Shadows", but more homogeneous and shorter, that should allow Angra not only to keep a place apart in the metal scene but also to hope to win new listeners.
ARENA: Contagium (2003)
PROGRESSIVE ROCK - With the release of this last fragment, amateurs can reconstitute the magnificent ensemble that is "Contagion" in its complete version.
