Amon Sethis is a progressive metal band that gets better with time. In 2014 he had charmed the editorial staff of Music Waves with "The Final Struggle", a rich record, between Orphaned Land, Opeth and Symphony X. Six years later, he releases "Part 0 - Nitocris, the Queen with Golden Hair", a story of passion and violence around an Egyptian dynasty. If some musicians have been replaced, the renewed team continues its momentum with this new album that tells the story of the first female pharaoh (Nitocris), the troubles during her reign, her struggles, her loves and her attempts to thwart the plans to overthrow her.

Even more than the previous ones, this record is marked by the particular color of Julien's voice. It is the base on which everything is based. Often rock, its power pushes the cursors in the red, sometimes soft, it becomes sensual and intimate. It also offers grunt leading the band to the doors of a death worthy of Opeth or Orphaned Land ('The Rise of Aoutef's Army', 'Osiris, God Of The Dead') or uses a high register typical of black ('From Dust To The Stars'). Everything is gathered so that the voice is the engine of the songs as well as the light that makes them shine.

In addition to the vocals, the musicians in great shape seem happy to deliver a record of this quality. A great power is expressed almost without limit. The energic surge produces various climates with multiple styles, embellished with symphonic ornaments worked ('Nitocris, The Queen With Golden Hair').

The band never forgets that music lives with melody: the introduction of 'The Legacy From The Past' is worthy of a Hollywood production. The harmonies are enchanting, soft and charming. The tracks are dressed with lyrical and symphonic choirs, creating a kind of opera with metallic colors ('Desert Storm'). The work is particularly sensual when the six-string plays with a stripped simplicity that emerges in the middle of the furnace or when the crystalline piano brings romanticism and melancholy. Moreover, the album is supported by an unstoppable technique, formidable solo interventions that intelligently punctuate the tracks ('My Sister, My Love, My Pharaoh') and a drums that plays with tempos and offers Dantesque breaks ('The Rise of Aoutef's Army').

Amon Sethis has made a big step forward and confirms its position as a leader of a new progressive metal in France. "Part 0 : The Queen With Golden Hair" is a superb sonic adventure novel, a record strewn with lyrical flights of fancy or more intimist moments. Between death, symphonic metal, progressive and intimist passages, the band offers an essential work which will durably mark the musical landscape by its power, its technicality and its romantic force.

A.O.R. - Gary Hughes, the leader of Ten, offers us a "waterside" too classic and clearly lacking strong moments.

MELODIC HARD ROCK - "Afterlife" proposes a classic melodic hard rock close to the Rainbow of the 80's with a sound of the modern times.
