Metalite is a quintet that comes from Sweden. Born in 2015 and author of two albums since 2017, the Swedes propose since their beginnings a kind of melodic synth-pop power metal, a genre perhaps unknown, but to which we will have to get used...
The previous album saw the arrival of a new singer, this opus presents the same team. Erica Ohlsson has notable vocal assets, while giving off an undeniable charm. Metalite is strongly close to Amaranthe, with clear voices but without male growls, in a synth-pop vein sometimes bordering on techno. The whole is overboosted, with a lot of keyboards with modern sounds, built on fast and powerful rhythms, and invaded by direct and addictive melodies.
Metalite assumes its style: all the tracks are built on the same basis from the opening eponymous track. The audacity of the concept is to be praised because wanting to be original is risky. The technique of the musicians is also to be noted, even if it does not jump at once to the ears. As for the absolute research of the melody that kills, it requires work. If it is difficult to choose one track over the other, the eponymous track, and the galvanizing 'Cloud Connected' and 'Talisman' represent the best Metalite can offer. On the other hand, as far as the annoying subjects are concerned, let's mention the myriad of electro effects weighing down the music and some beats worthy of Ibiza.
Those who manage to adhere to the concept, and who appreciate Amaranthe and Beast In Black, or Within Temptation and Delain, should find some pleasure in this album. Everyone will make his own idea about the object. However, what seems to be taken for granted is that if you are a bit open-minded, it is largely possible to find undeniable assets in this "A Virtual World". - Official website
