""Dark Connection" by Beast In Black is a joyful record, a perfect remedy to the gloom between pop, euro dance and heavy metal."

With "From Hell With Love", the Finns of Beast In Black had done a great job in mixing genres. Their album was anchored in a heavy tinted with pop and dance with a strong synthetic side. The mix made some heavy metal purists scream but we had to admit that this explosive cocktail was incredibly efficient. The pandemic having canceled the tours, the band is already back with a third album, "Dark Connection".

Considering the cover presenting a young multi-connected woman with very bright colors, it is easy to guess that Anton Kabanen and his band do not intend to deviate from their road. Beast In Black still proposes a heavy music mixed with dance and pop with a big place made to the synthesizers. This gives a record without weakness and whose titles remain stuck in your head for a long time. In the heart of the album, Beast In Black signs with 'Highway To Mars', 'Hardcore', 'One Night In Tokyo' and 'Dark New World' some huge hits. The synths are in the heart of the songs in a euro dance spirit. The choruses are simple and effective. The guitar makes a place for itself through heavy solos and the dance floor/metal mix is delightful.

Other titles more oriented metal are very effective, with a power brought by the drums, some well felt riffs and a Yannis knowing how to be more powerful while keeping an irresistible pop side. The choruses are catchy and the synth brings a 80's side very dancing. With 'My Dystopia' the band signs a more researched track alternating calm melodic moments and more heavy. Finally, as a bonus, Beast In Black attacks 'Battle Hymns' of Manowar and 'They Don't Care About Us' of Michael Jackson for a very fresh result in a 80's spirit tinged with pop.

"Dark Connection" is a total success, Beast In Black still rises in power and shows an incredible ease to mix the styles. Of course, some metal fans might be disappointed by this kind of music but the immediate and fresh side is an excellent remedy to the gloom.

Ecouter une chanson (la vidéo youtube est peut être leur meilleure) ça passe mais l'album en entier d'une traite, c'est chaud...

SUN BELOW: Sun Below (2021)
STONER - A stoner trio from a country where the desert is a view of the mind, Sun Below invokes Black Sabbath in the middle of the snow-white expanses of Toronto and melts the listener along with the immaculate blanket that covers the world.
LP: Churches (2021)
POP - LP's "Churches" is a pop album that is very much in tune with the times, retaining a touch of vintage authenticity on some tracks.
