""Morii" proposes a post rock with multiple facets, sometimes muscular, sometimes cinematic or even melancholic but always fascinating."

In solastalgia, Either Way, whose name is inspired by the work of Australian environmental philosopher Glenn Albrecht, who defines "... a form of emotional and existential distress caused by climate change", is the post-rock project of Jean-Philippe Hébert, a Quebec guitarist known for having worked with several artists in Quebec (Lisa Leblanc, Les Sœurs Boulay, Elliot Maginot). His first release is a 6 track EP entitled "Morii" released in early October.
Very inspired by Godspeed You! Black Emperor or Mogwai, Hébert delivers an often muscular post rock ('Opia', 'Mort') with a cinematic look, conveying many emotions. The album is almost instrumental, only some sampled voices (speech of the Abbé Pierre on 'Good People, Bad Medicine') coming to decorate a music favourable to the imagination and the reverie.
If it embraces the usual codes of the instrumental post rock with its aerial guitars arpeggios, its long progressive ascents and metallic embalming, "Morii" also integrates original sonorities, well dosed rhythmic variations and original arrangements which make the listening exciting. In spite of a compact format of 30 minutes, the album proposes a beautiful variety of ambiances with the nostalgic 'The Warlike Fox' and its atmospheric acoustic guitar, or more introspective on 'Zenozyne' which sinks in dark and poignant nimbus. Until 'La Solastalgie', a terribly topical theme and very well put in music between nostalgia and melancholic abandon.
"Morii" is a very promising first EP for Jean-Philippe Hébert and his project In solastalgia, Either Way. Much more than an ambient album, "Morii" will please the fans of instrumental post rock but also the fans of Milanku for its sometimes rough and cinematic aspect. It conveys current concepts which will speak (musically) to the music lovers in search of a sense to the music and guarantees, in any case, a moment of pure musical pleasure. - Official website
