I might as well say it right away, if "An Acoustic Journey" is well named, the album could also have been entitled "New Beginning". Indeed, it is mainly about re-readings of tracks from the first two deliveries of Beneath My Sins, "Valkyries Of Modern Times" (2017) and "I Decide" (2020).
The reworked versions of burners like 'From The Flames' take on another dimension, with distortion giving way to the intimacy of strings, both instrumental and vocal. Flutes take over the themes of 'My Guardian Angel' and give a Renaissance atmosphere to 'Unpredictable' when the light appears. Folk and metal forge a new band.
Three new compositions also appear, including the opening track 'The Other Half Of Me', which sets the tone with the use of the bouzouki and the flute by Clément Botz, guitarist and composer but also founder of the combo with the singer Emma Elvaston, always as impeccable in a lyric register more nuanced than usual.
A new chapter but above all a new challenge, "An Acoustic Journey" allows us to (re)discover the songs of Beneath My Sins under a new light while waiting for the next opus which will allow, according to the main interested parties, to hear the new compositions disseminated here... in electric.
The journey has only just begun, cast off and embark on a journey out of time and space, where traditional instruments blend with an angelic voice summoning Charybdis, Scylla and Sirens to capsize the listener.
