Identity is a french combo who released their second album, "Dream On". Composed of Vanessa Di Mauro (vocals), Fabrice Dutour and Steve Marsala (both on guitar), Dan Nambotin (bass) and Thomas Dupré (drums) on the rhythm section, The band takes us on a journey to England but also to the USA, with many references to Anglo-Saxon pop and US rock

Vanessa Di Mauro's voice, sometimes close to an Alanis Morrissette, proves to be bewitching, really inviting to listen to the soundscapes she draws with a subtle and always appropriate touch (beautiful muffled voice approach on the magnetic 'Animal' on which the guitar playing is muscular). The guitarists are not left out but they know how to soften up like on the folk ballad 'Leaving You Behind' or on the bluesy 'The Touch Of Your Hand'.

If the album doesn't revolutionize rock music, it stands out by its endearing formula and is very pleasant to listen to, like the eponymous opening or 'Sleepless Nights' whose explosive choruses balance the false quietude of the verses. Some tracks could have been left aside such as 'Even Your Silences', curiously too predictable, or 'All Roads Lead To Rome' which remains rather wise, even timid. On the other hand, the band distinguishes itself with the incredible 'The Talk Of The Town', which could become a radio hit, thanks to the vocal commitment of the singer, the heavy bass, the efficient drums and the melodic work of the guitarists.

"Dream On" invites us to travel between England and USA in the 70's while keeping a touch of modernity and varying the genres. The contribution of the voice of the singer brings a lot of grace to this album and the formula with two guitarists brings all the heaviness necessary to such a cocktail of power and beauty.

OU: One (2022)
ROCK - With the aptly named "One" as its banner, OU merges progressive, metal, atmospheric and more into a fascinating melting pot.
EVERGREY: A Heartless Portrait (the Orphean Testament) (2022)
PROGRESSIVE METAL - In lack of inspiration, Evergrey disappoints on this "A Heartless Portrait (The Orphan Testament)" without soul nor originality
