After Us is intimately linked to the pandemic and is a hope to revive the music and the live show which begins to emerge from its coma of almost two years. This light is seen through this EP "Breaking The Dark" conceived as a kind of mission aiming at breaking this heavy context through 4 tracks like so many swords slashing the ambient darkness.
Borrowing the way traced by Headline, Attraction Theory or Elyose, the band thought this EP as a visiting card with various ways to demonstrate the wide musical and ultra melodic range of the band. The album starts with 'Home Again', a rock track tinged with an elegant pop. The production is very well done with a very nice amplitude and an immersive sound. 'City Lights' adds a little more contrast between dark verses and a very bright chorus, Celine mastering very well her modulations. The album then rises to a crescendo until an explosive 'Last Goodbye', with a devilishly strong rhythmic pattern.
The melodies are all well found, effective and above all well interpreted, ideal to be quickly memorable and addictive. By gaining in density and contrast and by not relying only on a flawless energy, there is no doubt that the continuation of After Us' adventures is promising. Talented musicians and a powerful and fair singer who does not overplay, are the assets of a beautiful future success in the line of this very positive EP.
