""Mirror" is a well interpreted album but a bit formatted and lacking the audacity to really win all the votes."

Kalle Wallner, better known as the guitarist of the band RPWL, launches into a parallel career by founding his super band, Blind Ego. Judge for yourself! Kalle Wallner on guitars, John Jowitt on bass, John Mitchell and Paul Wrightson both on vocals and Tommy Eberhardt on drums. Let's add to that some no less prestigious guests such as Clive Nolan (backing vocals) and Yogi Lang (keyboards), RPWL's vocalist comrade, to make us realize that Blind Ego is anything but an unpretentious musical recreation.
The first comparison that comes to mind is undoubtedly Kino! Another recent super band who released in 2005 a first album "Picture" in which we found John Mitchell... Like "Picture", most of the tracks of this "Mirror" are not very progressive even if their instrumental parts are rather neat. Wallner is often the star, his guitar having been particularly spoiled and it is clear that fans of the RPWL guitarist's beloved flights of fancy will be delighted!
The eleven tracks that make up this album are quite immediate, and it's not necessary to spend many hours listening to them to grasp all their subtleties. The other side of the coin is that the life span is slightly shortened by the lack of surprise.
Because, yes, Blind Ego's music doesn't shine by its overflowing originality and the nice compositions never leave the marked out grounds. Except maybe to hear a first track "Obsession" that strongly reminds... Muse! Anyway, some good moments are to be noted like the superb "Black Despair" masterfully concluded by a Wallner in a state of grace or like the very RPWL-like tracks "Don't Ask Me Why" and "Forbidden To Remain" in which this devil of a guitarist gratifies us with soli of which he has the secret.
Considering the names that adorn the cover, I would have liked "Mirror" to be more surprising and to venture where we didn't expect it. Instead, we are in the presence of a good product, well interpreted but a bit formatted and singularly lacking a certain boldness... That said, if you like Kino or RPWL, chances are that this "Mirror" will delightfully tickle your ears. - Official website
