After the very successfull "No More Hollywood Enddings" in 2019, here come back the Finns of Battle Beast with a new album, a very awaited "Circus Of Doom" since the Scandinavians have imposed themselves as the spearheads of this modern melodic metal so much in vogue.

Like Beast In Black, Noora Louhimo's band relies on the power of its charismatic singer's voice, the energetic riffs and the unstoppable melodies that have been part of its creations for almost a decade now. The first tracks still promise us frantic headbangs with the high tempos of 'Circus Of Doom' and the unstoppable chorus of 'Wings Of Light'. The Finns take us on conquered ground, without any great surprise but with a great mastery.

The melodic magic of the combo operates again on this "Circus Of Doom" with immediate melodies to hum from the first listening and which do not leave the spirit any more afterwards. Among the most outstanding, the magnificent verses of the mid-tempos 'Master Of Illusion' and 'Where Angels Fear To Fly' quite similar, 'Armageddon' which reminds of Dynazty for its different vocal tones, or 'Road To Avalon' and its progressive acceleration. Nevertheless, the structures of the tracks are rather predictable with keyboards sometimes a little kitsch which accompany the riffs and short soli.

Of course, Battle Beast has never shone by the virtuosity of its protagonists and his writing work is rather classical but its strength is elsewhere. First of all and always in the formidable energy of Noora Louhimo, her incomparable tone, her perfect technique and her amazing vocal power. Then in the ease with which the band can produce hits: they follow each other here with a crazy frequency until 'The Place That We Call Home' with its refrain a la Nightwish and frenetic finale.

The rhythm does not weaken one second and the 42 minutes of the album pass in an instant. Of course, the recipe doesn't surprise anyone anymore but it works from the first to the last measure with an unstoppable efficiency thanks to the frantic riffs, the incomparable vocals and the immediate melodies. You'll have to be a fan of melodic metal to fully appreciate this "Circus Of Doom" which has everything to stay for a long time in our playlists.

JACKSONS+SELLERS: Breaking Point (2021)
ROCK - The Jackson+Sellers association struggles to really seduce with "Breaking Point", despite the superb voices of the two singers.
OTARGOS: Fleshborer Soulflayer (2021)
BLACK METAL - Plunging into the arcane of an unspeakable chaos, "Fleshborer Soulflayer" displays the intransigence of an Otargos more brutal than ever, heavier and more devious too.
