"The metal-folk sounds of Dirty Shirt's sixth album never cease to make our ears sparkle."

After the excellent "Letchology", Dirty Shirt, the Romanian metal-folk band led by conductor Mihai Tivadar, took advantage of the confinement to work on their sixth studio album, the well-named "Get Your Dose Now!" which hijacks a famous cartoon image to put it in an unfortunately very contemporary frame.
The neophyte listener who has never heard a single note of Dirty Shirt is hardly prepared for the shock that awaits him. Its music is based on the union of elements that seem irreconcilable at first sight: a good dose of metal coupled with Balkan-inspired folk sounds. With this new delivery, the Romanians still manage to surprise us without upsetting their aesthetic.
From the first track, the hostilities begin with powerful guitars but this instrumental blurs the tracks. It is necessary to wait for 'Pretty Faces' to penetrate in the heart of the dungeon of Dirty Shirt. A labyrinthine dungeon in which doors suddenly open in the middle of the song to take unexpected musical directions. 'New Conspiracy' ventures into the barren and desolate lands of black metal. 'Hot For Summer' is typical of a schizophrenic song: a heroic folk pop is next to a dark metal marked by growls and martial drums; a too short song, as if Dirty Shirt didn't dare to go to the end of its adventure.
The band counts on two outstanding singers: Robert Ruz and his deep voice of vampire participates in a vocal ping-pong facing the orientalizing and androgynous voice of Dan Craciun. They are accompanied by female singers who take the lead on 'Geamparalele' whose violins sometimes evoke another great Romanian band, Transsylvania Phoenix. Some quite notable guests come to point their nose: Benji Webbe (Kindred) on 'Pretty Faces', the Toulon-based Boots (Ze Gran Zeft) on 'What's Going On? The memories of the progressive period of the prehistory of the group reappear in the big day on the long piece cut in two parts 'Cand S-O-Mpartit Norocou', in an intimate and very Balkan atmosphere (enriched by the voices of its two interpreters), which in spite of its slow crescendo and its explosion on the second part does not break the original charm. This more introspective and even more mature dimension is also present on 'What's Going On? If the enjoyment of "Letchology" is immediate, you have to take your time before being able to tame this "Get Your Dose Now!
The only small drawback is that the 30 minutes duration leaves you a bit frustrated. Fortunately, Dirty Shirt was one step ahead, adding a bonus EP of 4 tracks deliciously entitled "Pandemic Special" which offers a live and three rereads of old songs. "Get Your Dose Now!" is an album more demanding than the previous one but which can be tamed after a few listenings. - Official website
