The announcement of Erik Grönwall's departure was a shock for H.E.A.T. fans. Frontman of the band since 2012 and "Adress The Nation" their third album, he had indeed largely participated to its emergence. However, the anxiety of the Swedes' followers turned into impatience when they learned that a new opus was in preparation and that they were going to find Kenny Leckremo, the gang's first singer, at the microphone. "Force Majeure" is now available in stores, and all that remains to be seen is whether this seventh stone in the crown of the princes of melodic hard rock will be a jewel.
And as much as possible, H.E.AT. does honor to its rank. In the right line of "II", their previous delivery, the combo combines power, efficiency and melodicism. The men of Upplands Välby have few competitors in the superior division where they evolve. To perfect so many anthemic refrains and headbanging rhythms is an art. Moreover, the compatriots of Eclipse are never far from what the band of Leckremo proposes. The connection is obvious on the epic 'Back To The Rhythm' and on the outrageously melodic 'Hollywood' where the image of Erik Martensson's gimmicks inevitably comes to mind. However, the band has other references in store. The chainsaw riff of 'Nationwide' reminds us of the Judas Priest of the 80's. With a chorus that would blow up a pit, this track disperses an unstoppable energy. In a different genre where Mötley Crüe is invited to the party, 'Tainted Blood' and its final chorus worthy of 'Shout At The Devil' are particularly insidious. More surprising are the winks to Iron Maiden on the strong metallic 'Demon Eyes', to Def Leppard/Crazzy Lixx on the bluesy 'Hold Your Fire', and to Styx on the first part of the monumental power ballad 'One Of Us'.
While remaining faithful to its style of predilection, H.E.A.T. varies the musical approaches on this "Force Majeure". There are so many bands with different tonalities that come to mind while browsing the work, even within the same track, that this album can only please any hard-rocker. Vivifying, anthemic, alternately martial and enchanting, and at the same time nervous and catchy, "Force Majeure", witness of the new life of the combo, will necessarily mark the spirits. - Official website
