WNTRHLTR (WinterHalter) is above all a project of one man who found in this creation the ideal way to express the pain endured at the loss of a close being. It is necessary to measure here this extraordinary possibility for the artists to be able to concretize that it is through writings, of musics or songs, each stage of the mourning, the frustration of a loss and the emotion which it causes, where the majority of us keeps in him this sorrow, often with modesty. By appropriating this work, it is also a way to find for this silent majority a form of appeasement.
This is one of the readings that "Deu.ils" can take on. Here everything is of a violence assumed by its post metal leaning towards the hardcore and notably its so particular vocals. WNTRHLTR is accompanied in its enterprise by Laure Le Prunenec (Ex Igorrr) bringing a little religious dimension ('Prologue') and contrasts with the screamed and saturated lines ('Caught'). The operation here is not only to go through the consequences of the loss, the fact of blaming oneself (the anger which is one of the stages to make its mourning) but also to find an outlet.
Thus, the EP does not rest on the only diptych post metal and hardcore but goes further by opening to the doom and the atmospheric notably in 'Adored' which offers moments of relative silence leaving the field free to a kind of introspection. The guitars take volume in their hypnotic effects, heavy and dark, accentuating the oppression already felt in the inhabited declamation of the lyrics while being of a beautiful control not to be submerged by the emotions they convey ('Light').
The EP can be seen as a kind of journey between its 'Prologue' in the form of recollection and a more enigmatic Mourning, in which its author does not limit himself to use the usual codes. If the general aspect can be heavy, "Deu.ils" wants to be the photography of a hard ordeal and a way to move on. - Official website
