"A racy and technical death metal album, "Towards The Dying Lands" is an excellent entry point to discover the universe of Horizon Ignited."

Horizon Ignited, born in the icy lands of Finland, delivers a music that draws its influences from Amorphis or Dark Tranquillity. The band released a first album, "After The Storm", which left the fans wanting more. A few years later, they released "Towards The Dying Lands" with Markus Vanhala (Insomnium, Omnium Gatherum) on drums.
A technical imprint marks the record with fast riffs, cavalcades, quiet passages and rhythmic variations. Even if the tone is energetic and the riffs are powerful, the finesse intrudes in 'Guiding Light' with its clear guitar beginning. Then this sweetness is diluted in a sea of thick sounds and sweet melodies.
The beauty is there with sublime but never demonstrative six-string, with the voice between deep grunt, piercing screams and sweet vocals. These multiple facets give birth to emotion, as during the duets between clear and hoarse vocals. With their brilliant riffs and shredded passages, 'Towards The Dying Lands' and 'Servant' bring softness and simplicity while a limpidity is born from some acoustic touches scattered on 'Reveries' or 'Aching Wings'. The band reminds of Scar Symmetry or Dark Tranquillity, but adds pop touches worthy of Muse to spice up its compositions.
Fans of melodic death music, energetic with an icy beauty, "Towards The Dying Lands" is made for you! Between Insomnium ("In the Halls of Awaiting"), Omnium Gatherum or Mors Principium Est, this album will delight any fan of technical metal. - Official website
